about

Jason Fulk, licensed to practice law in Indiana and Illinois.

I started practicing law in 2004 at a business litigation boutique in Indianapolis, Indiana. For 17 years I was lucky to have worked with and learned from many of the most respected litigators in the state. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words.

Seeking a new legal experience, in 2021 I accepted a position as the first General Counsel of a group of closely-held companies with interests in transportation, logistics, and professional auto racing. As GC, my responsibilities ranged from managing lawsuits throughout the country, guiding the companies through transactions of all kinds, to negotiating a percentage of Indy 500 race prize money. I learned a lot about a few things and a little about a lot of things. I learned that pursuing every issue with academic rigor can be the enemy of the practical, efficient solutions a business needs.

In 2025 I chose to focus on a new way to practice at J Fulk Legal, LLC. Here I can put my broad experience to work for a diverse base of clients having diverse needs and meet each where it is. This structure allows us to decide who to work for, and what projects to accept, to work hourly, or to quote flat fees when appropriate for your legal project.Words. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words. Words.

services

Sometimes it’s not possible to resolve a dispute on your own. After more than 20 years litigating complex disputes for businesses owners, executives, and in-house lawyers, I can help you leverage the facts and law to best position your dispute for a practical business resolution or, if necessary, a courtroom battle.

employment

When it comes to employment law, time is of the essence. I can help you create or update your employee and contractor agreements, handbook and policy documents, NDA, termination and severance paperwork, and HR policies (all in compliance with federal and state labor laws, of course).

contract review

If your contract may as well be written in Latin, I can help you translate. It’s better (and often cheaper!) to learn what it really says before you sign it. Skip this step? I can still help (see ‘business litigation’).

insurance

If you miss the first turn, your race could be over. For over 20 years I’ve given sound business advice to professional race teams and drivers (including multiple winners of the Indianapolis 500® Mile Race) to help them stay on track. Learn more here.

Your risk protection portfolio is like a roof—it keeps you warm and dry so you can rest at night. Have you looked at the shingles lately? I can review your insurance coverages and contract terms to help plug any holes that might leave you unexpectedly wet. I can also provide a coverage opinion when an insurer’s coverage obligations are called into question and, if necessary, litigate who bears liability for an unexpected occurrence.

The law in the highly-regulated transportation industry can sometimes seem like a maze. After four years navigating it as General Counsel for a group of affiliated logistics firms, I can help you find your way. Let’s talk about FMCSRs, the Carmack Amendment, the ABC test, the MCS-90 endorsement, carriers, brokers, shippers, factors, and contracts between all of them. Learn more here.

You know where you want to get, but it’s not always clear how to get there. I provide advice and perspective to help clients navigate business transactions both small and tall, including entity formation, vendor and service contracts, consulting agreements, MSAs, and asset purchases or sales. My approach is efficient, responsive, and aligned with the pace of modern business.

transactions

If your business needs ongoing or project-based legal support, but you don’t have the budget or need for a full-time lawyer, consider fractional general counsel (GC) services. I can be a strategic partner to your leadership team, helping manage day-to-day legal matters or litigation, reviewing and negotiating contracts, advising on compliance, and supporting other key business initiatives. You get experienced general counsel for a fraction of time at a fraction of the cost. Learn more here.
